Many victims of sexual assault don’t report it because they’re either afraid of judgement and not support, retaliation, they’re made to feel like the gruesome situation was their fault and deserved it, and if they do report the attack, they’re asked to relive the traumatic experience in excruciating detail or else some people won’t believe them. Most women are ashamed and humiliated by the experience and may believe that speaking out about the topic will ruin their reputation in a way.
I believe this article was published to promote concern for those that have been sexually abused. This topic is very delicate yet significant. The #whyididntreport movement encourages those to speak about their attack without feelinging judged and ashamed. I believe it’s never the victims fault and nobody asks to be abused in any way shape or form. Every survivor should have this type of platform to feel safe to share their story comfortably without others “victim-blaming”.
many people feel ashamed to report sexual assault, its very sad and frustrating and this needs to taken in action. I like how they decided to make this a movement. This brings some king of light to the people that have been through it. -Alma Alvarado-Cabrera
ReplyDeletePeople need to speak up about this because this isn't something that should be allowed to be gotten away with. I am glad that people are finally starting to open up and tell their stories and build awareness of the dangers of sexual assault.
