Siobhan Crummey - wiss Crew Attacked By Pirates Off Nigerian Coast

https://www.cnn.com/2018/09/23/africa/switzerland-ship-attack-nigeria/index.html

The MV Glarus, containing about a dozen Swiss crew members, was taken over this weekend by pirates from off the coast of Nigeria. They boarded the ship with long ladders, and proceeded to take over the entire ship. After over throwing the crew, they cut off communication lines, and took 12 of the 19 crew members hostage. This is relevant today because people need to know that pirates are not a thing of the past, and they don't have peg legs and eye patches. But that they perfectly real, and there are plenty in the Mediterranean Sea. This source was produced by CNN, so I believe it is very reliable. This source was created for the people and to inform the public about the crew members that are being held hostage on their own ship. This is a serious problem because are were people of all different nationalities on that ship, with families at home. Pirating in the Mediterranean has been a problem for many years, and it is not stopping in the near future. Although many countries that are on the Mediterranean Sea are trying to take action, nothing has worked yet. The ship was cargo ship filled with wheat. This particular ship was probably targeted because of its valuable and edible contents. With the violence continuing to spread in the Middle East, the pirating will only get worse.
