Summary:
The president's new lawyer Rudy Guliani suggested that the trump administration will use Executive Privilege to block Special Counsel Robert Muller's report that contains information on collision in the 2016 election, and Russia's involvement in the outcome of the election. Guliani told the New Yorker "I'm sure we will" when being asked if The White House would do something to stop parts of Muller's report from being released to the public. Gulliani also reported that President Trump will be the one to make the final decision, on if Executive Privilege will be needed. Guliani went on to say that the trump administration is in the process of creating their own report which will contradict what they believe will be in Mueller's report.
Analysis:
The article was written by Morgan Brinlee on September 3rd. This article was not creating an argument, but more of presenting information on what President Trump's lawyer Rudy Guliani told the New Yorker. Guliani explains that if Muller's report on the Russian investigation is released to the public The white house has the "right" to use Executive Privilege to block some of the information on the investigation. Even though the White House may have the "right" to keep things from the public I can't help but wonder what the Trump Administration is trying to hide. Executive Privilege is meant to protect the United States in matters of national security, it will be interesting to see what the Trump teams rationale is for using it in this case. The supreme court would be the ones to decide whether or not Executive Privilege could be used in a situation like this. Similarly, the White House is using Executive Privilege to withhold over 100,000 pages on Brett Kavanaugh's time as a lawyer for George W. Bush from the public, and the Senate.
