Summary
Florida authorities state that Matthew Apperson who was accused of shooting at George Zimmerman was sentenced to 20 years in prison for the road rage incident. Along with the 20 year prison sentence, Apperson will also have a 15 year concurrent sentence for aggravated assault stemming from the incident. This incident occurred in May 2015 when Apperson continually flashed his lights and honked his horn at Zimmerman while traveling on a Florida highway. This article was written by Shawn Nottingham this afternoon. This article was written without any bias. I felt it was really well written to inform the readers of the events of the case. However, it alarms me just a bit that Mr. Zimmerman felt that Mr. Apperson had no regards for human life and thanked the jury for convicting him. It is just a little saddening to read his expression for human life, but Mr. Zimmerman did not offer the young man Trayvon Martin the same opportunity. I am thankful that Mr. Zimmerman was not killed during the road rage incident, but I wish the state of Florida had been just as tough during the Martin and Zimmerman hearing.
