"Black Votes Matter" -Aleah Washington 1st period

Getting support from African American voters are very important because sometimes that determines if you win an election or not. South Carolina is a major state that votes vary often. In the 2008 election, president Barack Obama received more votes than Hillary Clinton in South Carolina which gave him an even larger advantage over her. Hillary has learned from his strategy and really focused on what the African American voters looked at as major problems and worked it into her focus point. She also realized the age groups play a large part in majority vote, so she also found new ways to attract more of the younger African American voters.

The 15th amendment prohibits the denial of the right to vote based on race, color, and previous condition of servitude, and the 19th amendment denials the right to vote based on sex. After these two laws passed the candidates had to began finding ways to attract the new voters by supporting some of their demands. Since there were more voters there were more desires to be achieved.

  1. Interesting story! I think North Carolina will be one of the main deciding factors of our next president.
