Cuban migration spikes as U.S. relations with Havana thaw -Julianne Swaykus 6

The number of Cubans migrating to the United States has nearly doubled in the past year and there are no signs of things slowing down. "More Cubans are coming to the United States because they fear that a thaw in U.S.-Cuban relations will end a longstanding policy granting legal status to any Cuban national who reaches dry land in the United States." They are able to do this because of the Cuban Adjustment Act which allows them to live and work in the country, putting them on the fast track towards citizenship.
This reminds me of all of the migration to America for a better life decades ago. In the 1950s & 1960s many Cubans immigrated to the United States after the overthrow of the Fulgencio Batista regime. The Cuban Adjustment Act also eases Cuban assimilation in the United States culture and work places.

  2. I think it is great that America is welcoming these Cubans into the country with the Cuban Adjustment Act.
