Layla Maynard: Yet Another School Shooting

Summary: Fourteen year old James Austin Hancock is being held in custody under the accusation that he has injured four fellow students at Madison Junior-Senior High School in Middletown, Ohio. It is believed that Monday around lunch, Hancock opened fire in the schools cafeteria, shooting two students and otherwise injuring the other two. Thankfully, none of these injuries are fatal and all are expected to live. Hancock will face all charges, attempted murderer, felonious assault, inducing panic, and making terroristic threats, as a juvenile. Authorities have not yet revealed whether or not the victims were picked at random or specifically targeted. Analysis: Although it's incredibly lucky that none of the injuries are life threatening, it's still astonishing that somehow an eighth grader got his hands on a gun and attempted to take the lives of his peers. Though I'm unaware of the gun control laws in place in Ohio, I know that as of January 1, 2016, it became legal to carry a concealed weapon in the state of Texas. I know that this law doesn't apply to teenagers; one must have the appropriate license and what not, but it makes things like this so much easier for people with harmful intentions.
