"Kansas shooting: Gunman kills 3, wounds 14 at lawn care company" -Leah Messinger (period 1)

The article that I read this week was about a horrible and unexpected shooting that occurred on Thursday in Hesston, Kansas. The suspected shooter, Cedric Ford, was said to be "a mellow guy" by his friend and co-worker, Matt Jarrell. In total, there were four fatalities, including the Ford who was later shot and killed by the police. An additional fourteen people were injured with ten currently in the hospital under intensive care. According to Jarrell, everything seemed to be normal about that day until Ford was not there to relieve him of his shift and Ford later returned in a different car, armed. The authorities have confirmed that the shooter was an employee at Excel but they did not release a name or a motive, however; Jarrell was quick to admit that the suspected shooter was indeed his co-worker, Cedric Ford.
The saddest part about this particular instance is how unexpected the whole situation was. You hear about these stories on the news but until it actually happens to you you don't think that it every will. Jared mentions, "Never in a million years" would he expect his friend to do something like this. This just shows how unpredictable life is and how you must be ready for anything at any time.

  1. This is so sad. I am always so devastated to hear about such horrible incidents. Unfortunately, these stories seem to be getting more and more normal.
