Countless memes have been made of the sad campaign that was Jeb Bush's. I honestly feel guilty cracking a smile when presented with any of those memes, because I feel really bad for the guy. After having seen many of the speeches he presented, I failed to be able to point out what he was doing wrong. Sure, he is not the most entertaining guy and he did publicize his self-pity a little too much but I wouldn't say he was not fit to be POTUS. Anyway, I came across this New York Times video that made a lot of sense. It had definitely crossed my mind but hearing it from someone else really made it click. Very few people, if anyone, were viewing Jeb as a man standing alone running for president. Regardless of what he said or did, he was and will always be a Bush. While a lot of people love them, a lot of people hate the Bush and if Jeb were to win he would be the THIRD Bush to sleep in the White House in the past 30 years alone. Although it may be difficult, it is vital that we do not let a person live in the shadow of someone from their family that came before them. We all deserve to be recognized as one individual person. Jeb obviously thought dropping out was the best decision he could make, but at the South Carolina Primary, where he announces his dropping out, you can see Jeb holding back tears after a woman makes a positive remark about him. This should be a lesson to us to never quit! He obviously didn't want to. But if that was what was best for his health, then so be it.
This is a kid Jeb! gave a toy tortoise to. Jeb! was sure he was going to be president because he was living by the tortoise and the hare story saying that "slow and steady wins the race." |
