just days after an informal meeting with president Trump, Kristjen Nelson resigns from her position as homeland security secretary. Trump happily tweeted that replacing Nelson will be Kevin McAleenan the commissioner of customs and border protection. Though McAleenan will be in the acting position of homeland security secretary, this is still a huge deal. Nelson expressed to the public that she attended her meeting with Trump with no intention to resign, but was forced to step down as secretary by Trump himself. Though Nelson isn’t completely stepping down tell Wednesday, we can’t help but wonder how this sudden change will effect border security.
