Baltimore Mayor to Take Leave of Absence Amid Children’s Book Scandal -Martina D’Orso

          Recently, a Baltimore Mayor Catherine E. Pugh was involved in a scandal about the $500,000 she had received from a nonprofit health company who has ties to not only connections to the city but also state government.   Later it was found out that $100,000 extra dollars were spent purchasing health books Ms. Pugh has written in 2011. Amid all the investigations, Ms.Pugh has said that she is resigning because of a health problem she has. The payments made ro Ms.Pugh are very concerning as they not only include links to state and city governments, but also the fact that only few of the 100,000 books have been found.

          This article was written by Timothy Williams on April 1, 2019. Previously to reading this article I had not known about this subject, but after reading the article I get a negative feeling towards Ms. Pugh. The missing books and the large sums of money amounted to her are extremely suspicious and the fact that she resigned at the same time makes the situation even more suspicious. We can, to some extent, relate this to Michael Cohen’s large sums of money that were given to him by multiple companies with ties to Russia.
