World's first 'floating tunnel' proposed World's first 'floating tunnel' proposed in Norway in Norway- Yesenia Ramirez Monroy
Recently the Norwegian Public Roads Administration (NPRA) proposed the world's first underwater floating tunnel, which is being taken under consideration by the Norwegian government who wants to replace the ferries with bridges. This is a great idea that will help reduce damages to the environment and will be more convenient because they will no longer have to drill through mountains to create tunnels which requires a lot of work. Although this may seem like a great idea it will cost around $40 billion and its a complicated structure to build due to it's large size. It will also be the first of its kind if the project gets approved and it will lead to a drastic change in car transportation. This article was written by Denise Chow on February 15,2019 with the purpose of informing citizens of a new project that will leave people wondering of the advancement that our world has come up with. This will also be a more efficient way to transport because it would be like a shortcut because it will directly lead to your destination without having to make many turns or stops. This relates to U.S. history because it all goes to the beginning of the Industrial Revolution which began around the time period of 1760. During this time period their was a rise in the production of manufactured products and the creation of many new inventions and ideas that changed societies making life more efficient.
