Ryan Mecca | Japan's Abe won't deny nominating President Donald Trump for Nobel Prize

Japan's Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has refused to confirm or deny his nomination of Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize. Trump has claimed that he did, saying that he praised him for making Japan feel safer through his peaceful response to North Korea's nuclear efforts. The meeting between Donald Trump and Kim Jong Un in Singapore was the first peaceful summit between the U.S. and North Korea.
While Donald Trump has been very successful in his efforts towards peace with North Korea, it will be easy for controversy to arise due to the recent efforts of Trump to build the wall along the U.S. border as many will claim that it is the opposite of peace, while others will say that reducing immigration is an effort to create peace within the U.S. This article seems to be addressed towards citizens of all countries that Donald Trump has been involved with, as it becomes increasingly important as we near the announcement of the winner of the Nobel Prize (October) for everyone to speak their mind about whether or not they believe that Trump as created more peace in their country. The author, John Bacon, does not seem to take any particular side on the issue, including quotes supporting both the nomination of Donald Trump for the Peace Prize, as well as quotes claiming he has done nothing towards the prevention of nuclear attacks by North Korea. This article is important, as it informs those living in countries like the U.S. and Japan where Trump has attempted to create peace of the possible nomination of Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize; I personally was unaware of this before reading this article and now with this knowledge, I am able to better discern where I stand  on the issue.
In 2009, former president Barack Obama received the Nobel Peace Prize "for his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples". Obama's winning came as a surprise to many and was very controversial, as he was only nine months into his first presidential term and many thought he hadn't done enough to deserve the Nobel Peace Prize, including Obama himself. Similar to Trump's efforts with North Korea, Obama "paved the way" towards peace with the Russian Federation over the nuclear weapons issue.
