Senator Tammy Duckworth expressed her belief that the National Emergency declared by Donald Trump was going to be struck down by congress soon, due to the backlash in congress. The emergency, which Trump declared recently due to the issue of Mexican-United States border security, will potentially lead to nearly 1.4 billion dollars of millitary spending being funneled into the construction of the now famous (or infamous, depending upon your view of the situation) border wall.
Many in congress, and the United States as a whole, oppose the wall, as they believe it is not only a waste of money as well as robbery of the military budget. The mass political turmoil we are undergoing is quite reminiscent of the political turmoil of the Antebellum era that both preceded and led to the American Civil War.
