Denver teachers went on strike after failed negotiations with the school district about pay. One teacher Jenna Jones explained to her students why she was joking the strike and the fact that she couldn’t afford to live in Denver and with what she makes as a teacher. Her students reacted by given her gift cards.
To me this situation teaches kids life lessons. Theses situations show kids how hard the real world can be. The way that they responded shows that the teachers are doing something right. With all that’s going on in the world we need teachers like Jones to let the students in on what’s really happening.
This reminds me of when the government was shut down not too long ago and TSA workers stop coming to work. It connects because teachers jobs of shaping our next generations is just as important as TSA workers keeping people of America safe.

I think it is good that the teachers are standing up for themselves and asking for higher pay.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Haley. Teachers are the backbone of our country and it is important that they receive adequate compensation for educating the masses.
