This article states that a school superintendent in Indiana quit her job after being accused of pretending a sick student was her son so he could get medical treatment. A 15 year old student was missing from school so Smitherman,the superintendent, went to his house to check on him and decided to take him to a doctor. She used her own son's name and insurance after realizing that the clinics wouldn't give them service if she wasn't his guardian.In the past, her husband has bought clothes for the student and helped keep his house tidy. Smitherman didn't want him to be placed in a foster care;therefore, she didn't call child servies.
I feel like this superintendent is a nice, caring person and doesn't deserve punishment.Even though what she did was technically wrong, it wasn't harmful. I really hope the student gets help without having to go into foster care and that Smitherman isn't punished. This reminds me that years ago, some teachers could spank their students and they would ,but now teaches are trying their best to help there students, even outside of the classroom.
