16 States Sue to Stop Trump’s Use of Emergency Powers to Build Border Wall -Martina D’Orso

          California, among 16 other states including New York, Virginia, and Maryland, have decided to sue Trump over his declared sum of border wall money he was going to use. On Friday, Trump said he was going to use billions of more dollars for border security than which Congress had granted him. Therefore, the states are suing for the fact that he is going against Congress’s will and that he is creating a crisis which does not necessarily exist to get funding for his wall. Trump planned to use billions of dollars from drug interdictions as well as military building and law enforcement.
          This article was written on February 18, 2019 by Charlie Savage and Robert Pear.  Before reading this article I had not known much about how the states were suing Trump, nor had I known that he was trying to funnel federal money for other causes into his border wall. This happened before when 20 states sued over Obamacare, which said that Obamacare was unlawful. After reading this article, I just become more frustrated with Trump and find it completely ignorant of a President to be so lenient with rerouting billions of dollars to help fund his selfish cause of a border wall. He does not realize how this may affect other areas, especially areas with such big government funding.
