'Transgender' Could Be Defined Out of Existence Under Trump Administration -- Mary Kate Madden

This article was written on October 21, 2018. Donald Trump is president. His administration is trying to redefine gender. Obama set gender as something you could choose and that it isn't necessarily the sex one is assigned at birth. This was set to be more inclusive to transgender people. The Trump administration is now reportedly trying to change what the Obama administration has set to make gender be either male or female. They argue that the term "sex" should not include people who are transgender. This is important because it would get rid of recognition for 1.4 million transgender Americans.

This would negate the steps we were taking as a country to give more rights to transgender individuals. I don't think this relates to a different part of history, because typically, as a nation, we don't tend to take steps forward, then turn around and walk backwards again.

  1. I like how you were noest in saying doesn’t relate back to history because we typically don’t go back. Great work!!

  2. I don't think this is fair and I really wish people could just be who they want to be without any rules or guidelines.
