DiCaprio. Get ready for Titanic 2! - Darrin Fleenor

The Titanic is back – and it’s ready to complete the voyage its predecessor attempted over 100 years ago. The Titanic II, a replica of the original “ship of dreams,” will be setting sail in 2022, following the same Southampton, England, to New York route the famed Titanic tried in 1912.“The ship will follow the original journey, carrying passengers from Southampton to New York, but she will also circumnavigate the globe, inspiring and enchanting people while attracting unrivaled attention, intrigue and mystery in every port she visits,” Clive Palmer, chairman of Blue Star Line wrote in a statement. The new luxury liner was announced in 2012 to honor the ship’s 100-year anniversary, but the inaugural voyage was ultimately postponed due to a reported financial dispute between Blue Star Line’s parent company, Mineralogy, and the Chinese government. Now Blue Star Line has released a statement, saying the detailed building on the ship has recommenced.

TBH. I'm not even mad. I'm actually looking forward to this. Because if the same thing happens that mean 1. were jinxed and 2. #Titanic2. But really and truly this is kinda cool. We're gonna redo history. Just hopefully not as accurate as we all are thinking.

  1. Emma Burkey: This is very interesting and I haven't heard of this actual new ship named for the Titanic. It does worry me that trying to redo history will mean redoing all of it and all I can hope for is the safety for all aboard.

  2. Honestly it would scare me to get on Titanic #2 because I feel like history could repeat itself!!

  3. It’s interesting that they decided to remake a ship that sunk over 100 years ago. I definitely wouldn’t have thought that was a good idea, but technology has improved a lot since then and I’m sure the people in charge will be extra precautious due to what happened to the last ship.

  4. I think this ship might do well, we have better tech and nothing will probably go wrong.
