GOP lawmaker Steve King's rhetoric under scrutiny in wake of Pittsburgh shooting- Elton Tankersley

This article discusses the extent to which conservative voices led to the mass shooting in a Synagogue in Pittsburgh. The article brings up some things that Steve King has said and discussed how that may have led to violence.

This article is written during a time where speech from anyone is being heavily scrutinized, and this article highlights that issue. This was written for people who disagree with Steve King to give another reason to not like him. It was written by Clare Foran, and I believe their bias is reflected in the article by the comments she choose to include from people about Steve King. This is important because it shows how many people will take what you say and interpret it in a bad way. This event relates to other mass shootings because there is always some sort of political message we are supposed to take away from them.

I think that unless Steve King actually said "you should go shoot people in a Synagogue" he is in no way responsible for the mass shooting. "Hate speech" is still free speech, and is therefore protected by the constitution and the idea that a public figure is responsible if someone acts on beliefs similar that public figure by shooting people, that is somehow the public figure's fault is fundamentally flawed.
