Thousands of migrant children are being moved over night to a tent city in Torniollo, Texas. They are given no schooling and sleeping in cramped bunks. The issue of the increasing number of migrant children shows a larger issue with the immigration system in America. They are trying to find sponsors for the children (typically relatives or family friends), but some may have to spend months in the tent cities. Though the number of people crossing the border has not drastically increased, but the new policies of the current administration has made finding sponsors more difficult. These camps are not a good place for children and the size makes it more likely for a child to be overlooked.
It is saddening to see that immigrant children are being treated this way, but it is even more saddening to see how little the American people care. The administration has messed up the immigration system so bad, that many people have gotten it. Also Trump has reinforced the "us vs them" mentality so much that some people have began to embrace it. It is important to remember that this is an on going issue and that these are children who are being affected.
America has been cruel to it's immigrants since it became a county. When the Irish and Germans came to America for work, they were crammed into cities and making very little. Hopefully someday American people can treat others like people.
