Hillsong: the evangelical megachurch that helped save Justin Bieber...- Daviah Harrison


This article was published on October 1,2018 by Tara Isabella Burton. This article explains how Justin Bieber went from a "bad boy" to a saved married man. Justin Bieber's life was going downhill around 2014 and Lentz, his young pastor friend, convinced him that Jesus may be the way to go, so Justin immediately got baptized and that is when everything changed for the better. Justin now attends  Hillsong Church events and conferences. Hillsong is a Evangelical Church,attracts a younger audience,believes in positive thinking, and is not as strict as some churches may be.


This article reminds me of the First Great Awakening when colonists realized that religious power was in their own hands. The Great Awakening gave people who lacked a personal relationship with God,  a chance and a lot of people experienced renewal or rebirth. This is similar to Justin Bieber's experience since he found a church home and changed in a positive way. I am glad that Justin found something that helped him become a better person and hope he continues to grow.

    I think that the parallel to the First Great Awakening is very interesting. Its great that he's becoming a better person, and its good that Hillsong is inspiring many other young people to become better people as well.
