Summary: Gary Tigges, a doctor in Plano, Texas, made statements that women should be payed less because they do not work as hard as men. Many people have called him out online for his sexist views. Men in medical fields typically earn 20 to 30 percent more than women, and it is not improving. The fact that many women have to take care of their homes and may work less hours is being used as an excuse to pay women less than they deserve.

Analysis: This article was posted September 3, 2018 by Taylor Telford. Many people have been speaking up about inequality for women and it is saddening to see people still have opinions like this. I though that these problems were getting relatively better, but the wage gap is still very large. People still believe that women are less capable than men. This was written by a woman who is definitely against Tigges views, but she is successful in conveying both sides of the story. This article was written to inform people of the ignorant beliefs that some people still have. It is important to know that there is still a lot of work to do before we can reach equality.

Synthesis: In the late 1800s and early 1900s, women made great strides towards equality during the suffrage movement. It is disheartening to see that progress has greatly slowed. Many people see the feminists who take things to extremes and want the roles to be reversed where men stop being fairly. We need both men and women to work towards equality, with an emphasis on equal.

  1. I agree with the article that there are still people who do not believe that women and men should be paid the same for the same jobs. I think this is very sad because both men and women are capable of being successful in anything they put their minds to. If women are less capable, then why would they have to pay the same amount of moeny to be trained and get degrees in college?

  2. I heard about this earlier today, and I was so discouraged that some people still have this mindset even in the modern world. Just when you think that equality is within reach, a comment like this is made and you realize how far we are from it. This was a really captivating article to read, and your input was enlightening.
