Ellie Colwill -Jacksonville shooting puts spotlight on booming world of esports

A 24 year old man named David Katz, while in a Madden 18 tournament, decided to take the lives of 2 participants and injured 11. In this News article it is revealed that about 2 weeks before the tournament, he bought 2 hand guns in Maryland legally. After his parents divorced, in the court documents it is stated that he had multiple cases of mental illnesses when he was a teenage. After the he had done his damage at the tournament, he then took his own life. This scenario reminds me of the school shootings that’s happened in Florida, it is important we keep these type of events in mind so we can take precaution for the future.

  1. I agree with ellie, i believe that guns are a very big threat to the population, especially in school also, because it could take the lives of many. I believe everytime something like this happens we should be aware and try to find ways to stop it
