Brazil Museum fire- Madison Malonson

Inferno at Brazil's National Museum causes irreparable damage and grief   https://www.cnn.com/2018/09/02/americas/brazil-national-museum-fire-intl/index.html

At around 7:30 pm Sunday night the National Museum in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil caught on fire. No one knows who or what cause the fire, but the damage was  catastrophic. Nobody was physically hurt but emotions were running wild. The employees of the museum were overcome with tears as the watched the building burn down. Over 20 million historic artifacts were destroyed by the flames. The museum was loved by all in Brazil and the country "is in mourning".
As soon as I read this headline I thought, "Oh no, that's terrible!". As someone who loves history and museums, I think this is a terrible tragedy for the country of Brazil. Just imagine of something like that happened in our country? We would be greatly effected if a Smithsonian  museum or the Statue of Liberty collapsed. In fact not too long ago the Statue of Liberty did catch fire. Luckily there was no serious damage of the statue or the people in or around it. But what if there would have been? Times like this should make us proud that we still have national sites and treasures to appreciate.
