The Syrian government forces have agreed to help the Syrian Kurds fight the Turkish offensive forces. In Turkey's eyes they see the Kurdish fighters as terrorists across they borders of Afrin. As a response they sent out major offensive forces against them. " "Popular forces will arrive in Afrin within a few hours to support its people's stand against the Turkish regime's attack on the area and its people," Syrian state news agency, Sana, said." A senior Kurdish official is planning to deploy border positions but the government hasn't confirmed that yet. When everything is finalized the Turkey could be facing Syria's army as well as Kurdish fighters.

This is not surprising that different countries use terrorist groups that is not liked by other countries so it results in conflict. Why can't people try to use diplomacy and reduce the amount of lives needed to be lost for unnecessary skirmishes.
