Sadie Schiermeyer School Shooting Warning Signs

The school shooting on February 14th is not new information. However, as professionals dive further into the case, they find more and more ways the shooter may have been stopped. Since he was nine years old, Nikolas Cruz had shown dangerous and harmful tendencies. He often was found harming animals by throwing rocks at them or using knives to cut and harm them.  From childhood, he proceeded to get more violent. Like any normal teenager, Cruz owned several social media accounts. Unlike a normal teenager, though, he often posted pictures, videos, and comments regarding guns and harming other people. He was reported several times, but authorities did not look further into the accusations. When he was a bit older, Cruz’s mother passed away. His anger and aggressiveness only increased from there. Several other reports went unnoticed before the shooting occurred.

I feel like this has been going on for a while. More times than not, there is some sort of sign or clue behind whatever violence occurred. However, there was more than one clear sign that this boy was violent. Authorities need to realize that we aren’t blind- especially when we are at risk. This has happened before many times in the past and yet they haven’t learned their lesson. That is why people have to come together to teach them a lesson and make them realize there are problems beyond what they’re focusing on.
