The Olympics is off to an amazing start in Pyeongchang, South Korea. Ester Ledecka is from the Czech Republic and she has competed in both skiing and snowboarding. She won the women's snowboard parallel slalom and the Super-G alpine event. Being the first women to win gold int two events, she will go down in history. Her main sport is snowboarding, and when she won in the Super-G, the skiing, she was amazed and surprised. Her coaches thought that maybe focusing on skiing too could cause harm to her snowboarding winning goals, but clearly it did not, and only enhanced her drive. Lindsey Vonn, comments on this situation, saying that it is inspiring for the younger generations because it encourages them to look into several different sports, as it should. Another competitor, Shiffrin, commented on how Ledecka showed everyone how much better they could've skied better and faster. Many people are very happy for her and are encouraging her and her motives.

This relates to APUSH because the motives behind Ledecka are like the motives of all the women in the early 20th century, fighting and working hard in all aspects of life and not giving up. I think she is a great example for all women and young girls.
