Teachers Will Protest Against New Gun Rules - Taylor Townsend

Educators in Maryland are pushing back against President Donald Trump's call to arm 20 percent of teachers nationwide. In the last ten days,  police have found no credible threats but they are definitely investigating all threats. In the state of Maryland, there has been more than 15 recent threats regarding schools.

These incidents are igniting President Trump's call to arm teachers in classrooms. Baltimore County Police responded to Lansdowne High School on Friday morning after a Snapchat post described the Parkland shooting suspect as a "brother" and promised more victims. Betty Weller of the Maryland State Education Association says many teachers would rather find  another career than carry a gun.

Personally, I don't think teachers carrying guns is the solution. The solution is bound to be a complicated one, but this isn't it. I really don't see how that could help, I understand why one thinks it might, but ultimately the unbearable emotions running through student's/teacher's minds during something like this will cause them to respond differently. Adding more guns to the situation seems a bit hectic to me.

i agree with Margot. Although arming teachers could be a temporary solution it is a matter of time until it backfires and causes yet another fatal massacre. Also fighting gun violence with guns seems like a solution that is being set up for failure.
