More Americans Blame Mass Shootings on Mental Health Than on Gun Laws, New Poll Finds

Summary:

After the shooting at the Florida high school ABC news and The Washington Post renewed their Poll over gun control and mental health. Out of 808 people 54% voted that their should be stricter gun laws while a shocking 77% voted that their should be more mental health screenings. The people that voted on stricter gun laws were mostly African Americans and women while the ones that voted for mental health screenings were mostly white republican men. This includes the Trump administration.

Analysis:

Just this year there has been more than 10 school shootings and it’s just February. It’s the 21st century the security steps that you have to go through to get a firearm is very small. Anyone can have a firearm. This leads to more people purchasing a firearm for protection. Their basically fighting fire with fire. One of these steps is a mental and physical screening. If they do a mental screening wouldnt that reduce the amount of shootings caused by people that have a mental disability? I understand many people want to make use of their 2nd amendment right but it is getting out of hand. We shouldn’t have to come to school scared that we won’t return back home especially not in America. Stop trying to justify the unruly handling on firearms with mental disabilities.
