Republican congressional hopeful Tannahill announced, following major criticism, that he'd continue his campaign's additive AR-15 giveaway. In light of Wednesday's mass shooting, Tannahill intends to bring attention to his campaign, despite the apparent bad taste involved using the same rifle that took the lives of so many students just last week. The Kansas City Star, a local newspaper, reported that third-graders will continue will to see tickets for the ominous raffle in order to raise money for a baseball team. A local radio talk show host, John Fredericks, denounced Tannahill's actions despite his outspoken support for the second amendment, saying: "Come on, man, it doesn't make any sense, you're not having a legitimate conversation when you're giving away an AR-15 for free." The insensitivity of the raffle echoes to both sides of the partisan fence, and I hope we can find common ground on blatant horrors like this one.
