On February 14, 2018 Nikolas Cruz took an assault rifle from his home and killed 17 people including staff and students from his high school in Parkland, Florida. He had a constant and continuous history of racism, homophobia, violence, and anger yet was still enabled the access to a gun that had the capability to taking down so many people with so little effort. The survivors of Marjory Stoneman Douglass High School, however, remain stronger than ever by going to Florida's capital and demanding a change in their laws enabling so many guns into the hands of so many malicious and violent people. However, despite their courageous efforts, heart-breaking stories and logical resolutions to limit the types of guns that can be bought and sold-the Republican body voted 36-71 in the decision to decline the motion banning AR-15s. The students remained horrified and shocked but are able to find a sliver of comfort in that fact that a handfold of Republican and Democratic representatives strive to create a proposal before Friday to ensure the safety of students at school. I, however, think that creating a bill that says "no guns" does not ensure the removal and complete and permanent riddance of gun violence-not without laws or bills.

Synthesis? How can you relate this to something else in history?
