Sadie Schiermeyer

Heather Wiechert was concerned when she realized that her daughter wasn’t growing at the rate she should be. When she asked a doctor, a specific formula was recommended that would hopefully be easier for the baby to digest. Everyone was thrilled to find that it worked. However, this specific formula can easily cost up to $1,000 a month. For Heather, this was too much. She approached her insurance in hopes of coverage for the necessary formula but was denied. Luckily with a bit of persuasion from her and the doctor, they were able to get financial assistance for the formula.

It drives me crazy that families have to pay for stuff like this. Even without insurance, I feel like even the government needs to help with life-threatening cases. Healthcare from the government is always an ongoing issue/debate. This is example of how and why we need to figure it out
