current event- Zoe Bator

Summary: International Olympic Committee President Thomas Bach said Saturday that athletes from North Korea would be competing in the upcoming winter olympics in South Korea. Also, North and South Korea are supposedly supposed to march under one cohesive flag. "Korean Unification Flag" They will also compete together in the women's hockey category. They will be sending a total of 22 athletes. All of this was also approved by the IOC and Pyeongchang beforehand. So, the country will compete in the upcoming olympics for the sake of games beyond all political tensions.

Analysis: The fact that the North Koreans are putting the people's wants above political tensions is uplifting and I think it will work out good in the long run. I don't know how the "unification" flag will affect both North and South Korea in the future. Hopefully, this has a positive impact on both countries and doesn't lead to any political conflict. But, I feel like the sports and games will be a innovative way for the two countries to be joined together.
