This morning Chuck Schumer, senate minority leader, announced that a deal has been made to be able to reopen the government. Also, the chamber is trying to pass a plan keeping the government funded for three weeks. Today they will be voting and the deal is expected to pass. There have been people that at first voted no are now changing and voting yes. There is though still a big group of democrats expected to oppose. Luckily this shutdown was over a weekend so it didn't affect workers because they would usually have the weekend off anyways.
This shutdown did not last as long as some of the previous ones have lasted. This could turn into a problem if the deal is not passed because the government could still be shutdown for longer. When the government is shutdown those workers and government spending is cut off which means those people don't make any money so the longer this lasted the more people aren't getting payed and the government isn't coming to any agreements.
