Jack Boreham- Government Shutdown
Last Friday the government shutdown due to disputes over the budget for DACA. Democrats we largely unified to vote against a measure the would keep the government open without solving the issue of DACA. The government shutdown caused thousands of federal employees to go without pay. Today Congress passed a bill to keep the government open until February 8th then the cycle will start all over again.

I think the government shutdown shows how much division is in Congress at the moment, and how this division hinders development.
ReplyDeleteThough the shutdown is a big measure to take when it comes to solving disagreements, hopefully this government pause will resolve resent DACA disputes.
ReplyDeleteThis shows how divided our country is politically. Hopefully at some point the two parties can work together again

ReplyDeleteI feel like nothing is getting done with postponing the date again and again. It feels like we’re setting way into a cycle that could be prevented with the union of the government.
i agree, the longer it gets put off the more it affects the families in need, and if they don't have a solution now then putting it off makes it less of a priority.
DeleteThere are a lot of comments here about happiness and rainbows and support of he government coming together again, however this hasn’t been true since a very long time ago. Like Washington Times. It’s important to know that we have had many a shutdown before and this one is no different. If the government worked together and had he same views there would be no need for a government. If you want perfect democracy re read the federalist papers. A perfect democracy is a dangerous democracy with no influence of the people. Rather, it’s good to know that congress is making a decision based on two views, rather than signing a paper and putting it into action haphazardly.
