Summary: On January 14, a gunshot victim, bleeding out into the snow of a curb in Cleveland, OH, was dying - and no ambulance would come. Once police arrived, they got on the phone with EMS dispatch, and they said "No ambulance will come. The victim drove into a different city, so we can't help." The victim, 22 year old Ronald Newberry, then began to plead with police to help him. After all measures were evaluated, police took Newberry in the back of a patrol car, to a trauma center. He was released a few days later.

Position: This is outrageous. Just send the man an ambulance for christ sake! He's been shot 16 times, and you won't send him an ambulance because he drove barely over city limits! That's terrible!

  1. That sounds a little ridiculous because someone should have responded and acted on this man's call, there must be something seriously wrong with Cleveland and its surrounding area's 911 dispatchers.

  3. That policeman should be charged because you can't do that to a person with no consequences.

I don’t understand why an ambulance was not there to help this man out right away. Going a few miles over city limits seems like a unfair reason to not aid a hurting guy.

This is a prime example that the government works for the people not for the person. Some people will do just what they need to get paid, what we need are people who will work just that much harder, then cases like Ronald Newberry wouldn’t be common.

  6. People should definitely be fired over such a terrible mistake. No one should be denied medical services over politics. That is absolutely ridiculous, but kudos to the police for stepping up and driving the man to the hospital.

  7. People will go out of there way to do the wrong thing instead of just doing the right thing. This man needed immediate help and it’s absolutely intolerable how he couldn’t receive the care urgently.
