Alzheimer's is the 6th leading cause of death for Americans. Very few clinical trials are being run to fix this disease as the ones that are tested have a 99% rate of failing. The number of Americans diagnosed with Alzheimer's gets bigger every day. The number of Americans are suspected to have tripled by 2050. However, scientists have moved from trying to cure to his disease to trying to prevent it. A test done on mice, proved that the disease can be completely reversed by removing just one enzyme. Hopefully these studies lead to a bigger discovery in humans. It is important that a cure be found for this disease because it is taking so many people each and every day. This case is especially important to me because my grandmother has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's for a few years now and it'd be great to prevent other families from gong through what mine is experiencing now.
