Katelyn Thompson- Gretchen Carlson and other react to new Bill O'Riley revelation
http://money.cnn.com/2017/10/22/media/gretchen-carlson-bill-oreilly/index.html
On Sunday morning, Gretchen Carlson was interviewed by CNN about the new Bill O'Riley revelations and how it was related to her book. New York Times reposted that Bill O'Riley paid $32 million dollars to a Fox News Colleague who threatened to sue for sexual harassment. Fox News then renewed O'Riley's contract which is known to valued at $25 million a year. Gretchen Carlson, a former Fox News anchor was appalled.
Carlson sued her former boss, Roger Alias last year for sexual harassment and retaliation, which caused him to resign and her signing a settlement agreement, limiting what she can a publicly say about Fox.
She then talks about the "corporate culture" how it's so easy to cover it up. Carlson uses the Weinstein Company as an example.

If a famous network, like Fox news, was to be facing these law suits and having to spend millions of dollars, why do they keep making things worse? The only thing I do not understand is as to why they are bringing him back. It has caused so much bad publicity for the network it makes no sense that they would build even more of a ruckus. Also, I love how Carlson talks about the "corporate culture", or the "sweeping under the rug" . These large companies are shutting down any victims that might cause the slightest bit of loss in money. its outrageous. I feel like I'm reliving the 20th century where women were not viewed as actual people but more as baby machines. In 1920, women fought for the right to vote just as we are now fighting for the right to be heard.
Has sexual harassment really come to the point in America where corporate offices try to cover it up and women have to individually say "me too" so that the blinded realize that we aren't making this up? All in all, Fox News needs to learn to stop hiring or REhiring sexual harassers and quit thinking they can cover it up with money.

It's disgusting that sexual assault cases can be ignored if someone is offered enough money. These things should NOT be a matter of money, sexual assault can and does ruin people's lives. There needs to be justice, not just payment.
ReplyDeleteThis is so gross. I don't understand how anyone could ignore this, as this deserves justice.
