Missing 3 yr. old's body found: Heaven-Leigh Pettis

                            The case of Sherin Matthews'

On October 8, 2017, 3 yr. old, Sherin Matthews was reported missing. Around 3 am, she had been left in the backyard as a punishment from her adopted father for not drinking her milk. On October 22, around 11 am, police officers found the body of a small child in a culvert beneath a road. No arrests have been made in connection to Sherin Matthews but Sgt. Kevin Perlich has stated that it is most likely her. Her adopted parents have been made aware of this discovery but the cause of the death has not been determined, yet.
Sherin Matthews' father, Wesley Matthews, was arrested the day she went missing and according to Wesley's affidavit, he told Sherin to stand next to a large tree and went inside for 15 minutes and when he came back, she was gone. He told the police that he thought she'd come back so he waited 5 hours before calling them. He was arrested on charges of felony endangerment of a child. The family's SUV was also seized after learning that it also disappeared in the time that Sherin disappeared and her father calling the police. Child services also removed Wesley's biological daughter and have placed her in state custody after the disappearance of Sherin and the arrest of Wesley. The parents have been reportedly "uncooperative" according to the police officers and have hired an attorney to represent them.
I hope they find justice for this little girl and I don't see why Wesley thought it'd be okay TO LEAVE a 3 yr. old outside AT 3 AM. And then, the fact that their SUV wasn't there around the time Sherin disappeared and Wesley called the police, that can't just be a coincidence. Plus, why would you think that a 3 yr. old girl would just find her way home? That's just dumb, she's a baby. This whole situation just hurts my heart. It's crazy that people would hurt other people and especially  innocent little children.

  1. I think the father is either lying to cover up or just has a REALLY low IQ score. A 3YR. OLD OUTSIDE AT 3AM?!?!?!?

  2. I have a 3 year old cousin who I’m very close to and it’s so hard to imagine her being punished in that way. I would think it’s obvious that a 3 year old shouldn’t have that punishment. It’s crazy. Now this little girl is gone and from what it seems like, her parents are showing no remorse. I hope they find justice for this little girl.

  3. This is very heartbreaking. I agree with the fact that it's crazy to think that a three year old could find her way home. My little brother was still wobbling around when he was three! How could a small wobbly child be expected to find her way home at 3 in the morning. She was surely tired, and on top of that it was dark. I just find this entire situation so saddening, and I hope justice is found.

  4. Just the fact the you would leave your child outside ALOne at like 3am is so stupid and irresponsible and I hate it so much they need to lock that monster of a father up for LIFE.
