Floods in NYC - Lauren Rothert

Recent studies have shown that in the coming years, it is possible that New York City will experience significant floods every five years. These floods would happen between 2030 and 2045 as an impact of climate change. The thought process behind the flooding is, as global sea levels rise, and we continue to have a warming atmosphere that is driving tropical storms, the combination is likely to frequent the city causing more and more future flooding. This raises concerns because storm surge flooding is typically the deadliest part of many storms.

I think it is very important that we try to start to steer away from the things causing global warming. Global warming is leading to the rise of sea levels, and high sea levels will lead to the floods that this article discussed. It is so sad to see how our actions have affected our planet, and I believe that these actions are coming back in the form of deadly natural disasters. I hope we are able to find a way to slow down global warming, which is unfortunately rising at an alarming rate.

  1. I agree with you about steering away from global warming. All of the pollution caused by humans is the cause of global warming and the natural disasters lately.
