A 12-year-old boy jumped off highway I-66 overpass as police say it was an attempted suicide but instead took the life of a young women, Marisa Harris,22, while she was headed eastbound on I-66 near Cedar Lane with her boyfriend around 4:15pm when the young boy came crashing down. Harris sadly dies but her boyfriend and the boy both survived. Marisa Harris was a graduate student at Marymount University in Arlington studying clinical counseling. Her father was devastated and also her uncle Bruce said,''She didn't even get an opportunity to begin her life, She was just snatched too early. She was just starting to blossom in her life and this freak accident happened.''
It just breaks my heart knowing that people try to harm/hurt themselves and others. People don't realize how precious life really is and how their actions have consequences. Us as a nation need to have more discussions about suicide and the effect it has on people. The percentage of suicides in the U.S. is outrageously high and we as a nation have the power to change that if we come together and love each other and build each other up rather than down.
