Recently, Trump's campaign foreign policy advisor pleaded guilty to making a false statement regarding his foreign interactions. In a recent court hearing, George falsely described his interactions with Russia. The charges against Manafort and Gates have no correlation to Trump's campaign, yet it is likely that additional charges could be added. And of course, because of this situation, Trump thought it would be best NOT to deal with it.
Throughout history, there have been many issues regarding exchange of information between foreign nations. For example, there were many rumors about Hilary Clinton, and that's only one of many throughout history. Hopefully we no longer have to deal with such issues in a country that's supposed to be "perfect".
