"The U.S. Nursed an Undocumented 10-Year-Old. Now It May Deport Her."
Rosa Maria Hernandez is a 10 year old who was illegally brought to the United States when she was three months old. She has a cerebal palsy, and her parents have explained that they came to the United States because they wanted to better their daughter's chances of survival. I find this very understandable. I would do anything if my child were in danger. Rosa complained of stomach pain, and was rushed to the hospital in an ambulance. The ambulance was stopped by border patrol, and they learned that Rosa is undocumented. Border patrol followed her to the hospital and guarded the door while she had surgery. She has not been able to see her parents during her recovery time. Rosa will not be released to see her family until after she has been processed and placed in deportation proceedings.I think this is crazy! A ten year old girl (especially one who has the mental capacity of a 4-5 year old) should be able to see her parents! Rosa has no idea why she isn't able to be with her family during this hard time. I am personally okay with the fact that immigration is being monitored, but I do not agree with situations such as this. There need to be exceptions, and a scared little girl should have the right to be with her family.

This is ridiculous and makes me horrified. This little girl is just like every other girl in the way that her feelings work. She probably can feel negativity around her and wants her parents or some other type of love.
ReplyDeleteI hope that the girl and her family can gain citizenship to the United States and that they can get together as soon as possible. Being away from your parents is hard, especially for a child going through hospital treatments and crazy stuff like that.
