Evacuation Drills in North Korea-Ellen Fritz

As tensions between the United States and North Korea continue to grow, North Korea has begun taking safety measures due to the threat of nuclear war with America. In more rural areas of North Korea, blackout drills and mass evacuations have been put into place so the citizens are prepared in the threat of nuclear war. James Mattis, US Defense Secretary, has said that threats of nuclear missile attack by North Korea are increasing, which is why the regime is taking these safety precautions for it's citizens.
I think the fact that the authoritarian North Korean government in implementing drills and evacuations to prepare its people for nuclear war shows how high the tensions are between the US and NK. The possibility of true nuclear war is unlikely, though it is scary to think about having to prepare for such a serious and dangerous. When I read the article, it reminded me of my dad telling me about the threats of nuclear war between the US and Russia when he was a kid, and how the United States dealt with serious threats that could cause immense damages to the population. Propaganda and drills and evacuations were not uncommon during Cold War nuclear scares, as threats of war are not uncommon in North Korea right now.

  1. I definetly agree with the fact that this truly shows how much tension is growing. However, I feel that blackout drills and mass evacuations are a little too much. Sure, it's good to be prepared for anything, but I don't think it's worth scaring lots of people for the slimmest chance of these events happening.

    1. Yeah I agree with you in the fact that this is a very serious measure taken in the slim possibility of nuclear war.

  2. Tension is growing a little faster by the days go by and that truly frightens me. And I am scared that we are on the verge on a nuclear war.
