In 1838, 272 slaves in southern Maryland were sold to pay down its debts. Georgetown University wishes to recognize its ties with slavery by offering the descendants of these slaves preferential treatment in its admissions process. The Georgetown slavery archive Was created to provide genealogical information about slavery at the university and includes the names, ages, and relationships of the 272 slaves sold.
This topic relates back to 1838 when 272 slaves were sold in Maryland. I believe that it is a good thing that Georgetown university is making an effort to apologize for their mistakes.
