Madison Harvey: Police Shooting

Summary: Footage was released on a police shooting that caused the death of Keith Scott. The footage shows police officers pulling up and firing shots at Keith. They believed that he was holding a hand gun, but in the footage there was no way of figuring out if he truly had a gun or not. There was a gun left at the scene of the crime and police say Keith's figure prints were left on the gun. There are a lot of questions for the police but little to no answers. Authorities say that an African american officer shot Scott, because he made the first threatening move. Scott's family say that he wasn't carry a gun but instead was carrying a book. They say he was being non-aggresive when the police surrounded him.

So far with the video shown it's hard to tell if the police were threatened by the man and we will need more information to determine. As it stands I don't think they should of shot Scott even if he did have a gun, he may have been confused on who the police were. Police are given guns to protect the public and themselves and from what I saw in the footage Scott was not doing anything that was harmful. This reminds me of the Boston massacre when people were rebelling and officials shot at a group of unarmed men.
