Kate Pinkerton Terence Crutcher Shooting

Summary- A man, Terence Crutcher, was shot and killed by a police officer. He was unarmed. He was shot as he walked to his vehicle with his hands raised. The officer, Betty Shelby, was charged with manslaughter for killing him. She was released from jail on $50,000 bail. She was fired from her job, but was placed on administrative leave with pay. This incident occurred in Tulsa County, Oklahoma. The officer says she shot him because he wasn't cooperating and answering her questions, but that she over reacted by shooting him.
Analysis-This death is just one of many that have happened in the past couple of months. America has seen too many stories of black men being shot by officers. This has contributed to the #blacklivesmatter movement. This article is important because violence has become and increasingly fatal problem. Luckily in this case the officer was charged with manslaughter but in many cases nothing is done about innocent unarmed people being killed. The fact that she was placed on paid leave is concerning because I believe they should be treated like any other criminal who killed someone, but slowly progress and change towards equality is happening. It is just so sad that every few days we hear of another death.

  1. Kiri Luckey: This is terrible, this officer took a person's life for basically no reason and the officer just gets fired and still gets paid. Something needs to be done about these officers carelessly shooting and killing people besides just firing them.

  2. This is SICK as well so many lives are being taken away from the black community and the police forces are not being punished for it, this really disturbs me
