Brittney Delpey: 800 Wrong Citizenship Approvals Due to Lost Fingerprints

The article was written by Emma Margolin who works for NBC News. She remains to have a professional unbiased stand point in order to give information. This was written September 19th, 2016. The article doesn't say when this event happened but it did mention that the missing finger prints were used prior ti 2008. So I would assume that this is an on going investigation that just appeared recently. This article was written for the entirety of North America and it's immigrants to beware of the Department of Homeland Security Offices mistakes.

More than 800 non-American citizens who were going to be deported received citizenship due to DHS's error of losing fingerprints. Some even were able to gain jobs at commercial airports, vessels, etc. Fingerprints were a very essential part in becoming a US Citizen and naturalization. It's a major worry to many due to recent terrorist attacks on America. This has only encouraged Trumps stance on strict immigration proposals. I believe that they should have a more efficient way of granting citizenship so that people who do want to come to America for positive reasons can do so legally and quickly. Unfortunately the immigration process isn't so efficient or apparently organized.

Prior Knowledge:  I did not know of this error until reading this article. Immigration policies have gotten more attention lately due to the politician Donald Trump and his radical ideas of restricting citizenship even further. Also, this has become more unsettling due to the amount of terrorism it could potentially cause.
