Linnea Soderlund 1st Period: Self-Driving Cars

Summary: In this article from New York Times, Cecilia Kang describes the recent endorsement of self-driving cars. The U.S. government has officially encouraged the technological advancement of autonomous cars on public roads. They have released specific guidelines that outline safety requirements and suggestions that still leave a lot to the imagination to give as much opportunity for innovation as possible.

Analysis: This is so exciting for me, as a teenager of driving age that gets to see the whole driving world grow and change right before my eyes. I hope this new path for technology can bring some much needed order and light to our world. I can't wait to see what the geniuses of our generation come up with!

Synthesis: This huge door has been opened and reminds me a lo of when cars evolved to hybrid and fully electric power vehicles. The huge opportunity for pure innovation and new exciting technology that nobody's ever thought of before makes me think of Apple with the first iPhone and everything since.

  1. I can't believe they're already making self-driving cars since I associate that kind of thing with the far future. That's really amazing though how fast technology can grow.
